Die DGON ist ein neutrales Fachforum in allen Bereichen des modernen Verkehrs.
Zweck der Gesellschaft ist, Wissenschaft und Forschung, Technik und Anwendung von Ortung und Navigation zu fördern und damit einen Beitrag zur Sicherheit, Leistungsfähigkeit und Wirtschaftlichkeit der Schifffahrt, Luftfahrt, Raumfahrt und des Landverkehrs zu leisten; dazu wirken Fachleute und Interessenten aus Behörden, Wissenschaft, Industrie und der Anwender zusammen.
