Das ZFL ist ein interdisziplinäres Forschungszentrum der Rheinischen Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. Es unterstützt den Profilschwerpunkt Geomatik am Geographischen Instiut.

Das ZFL widmet sich als interdisziplinäres Zentrum der Erforschung und Lehre in Bereichen der Fernerkundung, der Geoinformationswissenschaften und der räumlichen Modellierung. Es wurde mit dem Ziel gegründet, die interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit innerhalb der Universität Bonn zu stärken und Forschungsaktivitäten hoher Qualität zu fördern.
